Tuesday Art ATTACK- W.H.D. Koerner “Wolf Dog # 2”
Wilhelm Heinrich Detlev Koerner used his great talents in creating some of the early 1900s great western illustrations. Koerner was a very popular illustrator, at the beginning of the last century working for magazines such as Saturday Evening Post and Redbook. He fine tuned his skills at Howard Pyle's art school, which was the same school N.C. Wyeth attended. Koerner had a very romantic way of illustrating that captured the public's imagination. His western work is his most well known. This painting is titled “Wolf Dog # 2” and was created in 1934 for Saturday Evening Post. He passed away in 1938.
