Tuesday Art ATTACK- Maud Lewis “Team of Oxen”
Maud Lewis's "Primitive" artwork is some of the finest Folk art painting to come out of Canada. Her work has a charming simple style. When she painted she never mixed colors and used the paint straight from the tubes. She lived in Nova Scotia with her husband where she painted to support her household. Folk Art is art created by people that do not have a formal education in art. Maud Lewis passed away in 1970. Her house was moved into the permanent collection of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
