Tuesday Art ATTACK- Gil Elvgren “Claws for Alarm (Rude Awakening; Caught in a Pinch)”

Gil Elvgren is an American artist who was the master of the Pin-Up. Elvgren was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1914. He received his art education at Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the American Academy of Art in Chicago. When he graduated he worked for the advertising agency Stevens and Gross where he was Haddon Sundblom protégé. Elvgren began working in pin-ups in 1937. His work would soon become the standard for the art form. He also did a lot of commercial work for companies like Coca-Cola also. Elvgren passed away in 1980. "Claws for Alarm" was painted in 1958.
