Tuesday Art ATTACK- Hannah Hoch “Indian Dancer: From an Ethnographic Museum”
German Dada artist Hannah Hoch was born in Gotha, Germany on November 1, 1889. Hoch is one of the first fine artists to popularize photomontage as a modern art-form. She was part of the Dada movement which was an avant-garde art movement that was a response to the violence of World War I . Dada intended to offend the viewer unlike traditional art. Hoch was educated at the National Institute of the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Berlin. Hoch passed away in 1978. This work was created in 1930 and is now part of MOMA's collection in New York.
