Tuesday Art ATTACK- Edward Hopper “Nighthawks”
Edward Hopper's Nighthawks is one of the most famous paintings in the history of American art. The painting was done in oil and was finished on January 21, 1942. The Art Institute of Chicago’s director Daniel Catton Rich purchased the painting for $3000 in 1942. The work is of a diner in New York on Greenwich Avenue which has since been demolished. Nighthawks is still in the possession of the Art Institutes of Chicago and is on display regularly.
