Tuesday Art ATTACK- Alfred Thompson Bricher “Morning at Grand Manan ”

Alfred Thompson BricherAmerican artist Charles W. Ward was on born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on April 10, 1837. He originally was a businessman but always had a great interest in art. While working he studied painting at the Lowell Institute in Boston. In 1858 he decided to pursue art full time as a landscape artist. Bricher was one of the last artists of the Hudson River School. The Hudson River School was a group of artists that focused on grandiose large-scale paintings of the American outdoors. Bircher is known for his maritime art, and it's luminous quality. The painting above titled "Morning at Grand Manan" was created in 1878. Bricher passed away in 1908
