Tuesday Art ATTACK- David Burliuk “Portrait of a Man”
Ukrainian Futurist artist David Burliuk was born in Riabushky, Ukraine on July 21, 1882. Burliuk was educated at multiple art schools throughout Russia and the Royal Academy in Munich, Germany. Burliuk was an eccentric known for his bold personality.
Through-out his career he helped start and was a member of many important artistic groups including the Jack of Diamonds. Burliuk's Futurist and Neo-Primitivist work was very famous during his lifetime. After World War I, where is brother was killed, Burliuk left Europe and began traveling abroad eventually settling in America. “Portrait of a Man” was painted in 1948 in oil. Burliuk passed away in 1967.
