Tuesday Art ATTACK- James Doyle Penrose “A Playful Parry”
Irish artist James Doyle Penrose was born in Monkstown, Dublin, Ireland in 1862. As a portrait artist Penrose had a successful career. Penrose loved to work with Germanic Mythical and Neoclassical themes. “A Playful Parry” is a strong example of his work. His love of art transferred to his son Roland. Roland became a successful artist and a key promoter of the English Surrealist movement. Penrose continued to work until his death in 1932.
