Tuesday Art ATTACK- J. Frederick Smith "Family Chaos"

American artist and photographer J. Frederick Smith was born in 1917 in Pasadena, California. Smith had a very successful career as a commercial illustrator for magazines like Esquire, Cosmo, and Good Housekeeping. His Pin-ups for Esquire were very popular in the 1940s. Feeling like he needed a change Smith switched exclusively to photography in 1956. Most notably Smith photographed the cover of the first Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1964. Smith passed away in 2006.
