Tuesday Art ATTACK- John Duillo “Battle at Sea"
American artist John Duillo was born in 1928 in New York. Born to Italian immigrants Duillo served for the US Navy during World War II as a teenager. After the war Duillo studied paitning with Adja Junkers and photography with Berenice Abbot. He became a successful illustration artist working mainly for men's magazines and pulps. During his career he created notable covers for Conan and Peril Magazine. “Battle at Sea" was painted for Man's Action magazine in 1965. Duillo switched to fine art in 1970 focusing on Western art and etching. Duillo passed away in 2003.
